Dontaie Allen is now a Wyoming Cowboy

Dontaie Allen was a popular name throughout Kentucky when fans hoped the 2019 Kentucky Mr. Basketball would get more on-court opportunities when he came off the bench for the Wildcats from 2019-22. After three seasons in John Calipari’s Kentucky system, the Falmouth, Kentucky, native moved across the state, transferring to play for Western Kentucky University in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
In Bowling Green, Allen appeared in 59 of the Hilltoppers’ 67 games in the last two years. Last season, he started in 13 of those games, averaging 8.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per game. A sharpshooter, Allen led WKU in 3-point shooting at 40.0%, hitting 56 of 140 attempts. In his best game, Allen scored a career-high 30 points against Florida International with five made 3s, 9-for-11 shooting from the field, and a perfect 7-for-7 at the foul line.

So why are we talking about Dontaie Allen right now, you ask? Because today, Allen transferred to his third school for his sixth season of college basketball. A redshirt senior in 2023-24, he will get a sixth year in 2024-25 at the University of Wyoming. Allen chose the Cowboys on Tuesday, according to @portal_updates.
Allen, who re-entered the portal on April 11, will play for new Wyoming head coach Sundance Wicks, who left the Wisconsin-Green Bay to Doug Gottlieb.
Good luck to Dontaie at his last stop in college basketball.
