Drake Jackson expected to join Kentucky football coaching staff
The centerpiece of the Big Blue Wall is back. Kentucky Sports Radio has learned that former UK center Drake Jackson is expected to join the Kentucky football coaching staff as a graduate assistant, helping Zach Yenser coach the Wildcats’ offensive line.
Jackson’s career concluded following the 2020 season after starting in 44 consecutive games at center for the Wildcats. Considered one of the best to ever play the position at UK, the all-conference athlete paved the way for Benny Snell to set the school’s all-time rushing record. A Woodford County product, he helped create the Big Blue Wall’s identity with John Schlarman, then acted as a de facto coach in the meeting room when cancer forced the coach to the sideline.
Jackson went undrafted after competing in the Senior Bowl. The undersized prospect participated in a few different training camps, spending time last season with the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans and New England Patriots.
Jackson is expected to replace Ryan Finck as the offensive line graduate assistant. Finck followed Eric Wolford to Alabama. The role is critical for the development of younger players. Typically the offensive line coach works with the first and second team, while the GA keeps a close eye on the underclassmen on the scout team during individual workouts.

Once finalized, Jackson will become the third former Stoops player to join his staff. Courtney Love is the director of player development and C.J. Conrad is an offensive graduate assistant.
Drake will fit into this new role like a glove. He’s built for this. He was basically a coach throughout his time at Kentucky. There is no better person to maintain the legacy of the Big Blue Wall than Drake Jackson.
