IT JUST MEANS MORE for Oklahoma and Texas | The SEC Officially Welcomes Sooners and Longhorns

Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham is bringing a unique skill set to professional basketball. John Calipari’s most recent one-and-done product can score in bunches. That ability has many buying stock in his new team.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were seen as a big winner after the NBA Draft. President Tim Connelly gave up a 2030 first-round pick swap and a 2031 first-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs to land Dillingham at No. 8 overall. That move along with drafting Illinois All-American Terrence Shannon Jr. at No. 27 overall were seen as great additions for a Western Conference franchise that is a true championship contender. Even players around the league are impressed with the pick.

In his latest podcast episode, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green explained why he loved the pick. The former Kentucky commit is buying a ton of Rob Dillingham stock.

“Who won the draft to me was the Minnesota Timberwolves,” Green said on his podcast. “The reason the Minnesota Timberwolves won the draft is because they drafted their point guard in the future. And Rob Dillingham, who I think is a very special player — some of those teams at the top of the draft were afraid of because he’s got swag and he’s got game and they don’t know if his game is going to fit into their systems that don’t work and get them fired.”

“When you can just get a really good player who can score the basketball — Steph Curry — and figure out how the system works for him. And then all of a sudden, the franchise is in a territory that it’s never been in before But you know, at times we run into these guards with swag that they just ‘don’t fit in the system.’ And so teams run away from them. There’s going to be some teams that’s going to regret passing on Rob Dillingham.”

Those are strong words from four-time NBA champion, four-time NBA all-star, two-time All-NBA selection, and the 2017 NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Green is all-in on Rob Dillingham. So are the Wolves as the Kentucky guard appears to be the long-term replacement for Mike Conley Jr. and the future backcourt running mate with budding superstar Anthony Edwards.
