EA College Football 25: Best Dynasty Teams

Wow, I never thought this day would come. I was 10 when NCAA Football 14 was released, the final installment of a series that spanned 17 years. Little did we all know that a Supreme Court case was brewing that would end the series (seemingly) forever. O’Bannon v. NCAA changed college sports, as the former UCLA basketball player changed how amateur athletes are perceived in the United States.

Now, over 10 years later, Electronic Arts is back to bring the inner child out in all of us again with EA College Football 25. The euphoric feeling of loading up an NCAA game and hearing the great college bands blaring in the background while Michigan’s Donovan Edwards stiff-arms a defender, will play in my head until the July 19th release date.

KSR’s Bryan the Intern published an excellent article giving us the guidelines for the game. Bryan stated in the article, “If you’re going to play DYNASTY mode and try and build a program, you have to take a bottom feeder or the team you root for. No picking Alabama or Georgia. Kentucky is more than sufficient.”

Bingo. No big teams, I ENCOURAGE you to bring out your inner Mark Stoops and bring a program from the depths of despair to national glory.

Now, if you only follow Kentucky football, you may be at a loss when deciding which of the 134 FBS schools you will pick to start your 30-year career at the head of a program. However, consider this your nerd guide to DYNASTY MODE. If you plan to load up the game and get some steam off, this article is no longer for you.

It’s time…

Quick Rules

  • It would help if you started with a team that has not found success in recent years, ideally a 1-2 star team in the game.
  • A group of five is your friend; this is where programs rise from the ashes, and conference realignment at the end of each season will allow you to take your small program to the Big Ten if you decide to.
  • For the highest level of realism, start as an OC or DC (you can still control both sides of the ball and recruit)
  • You will get job offers at the end of each season and climb the coaching tree to get to your national power.
  • For the best intro to recruiting, watch the EA Dynasty deep dive before loading up the game.
  • HAVE FUN, let your inner kid out, suspend reality, go on the road, throw your headphones on, and FEEL the crowd
  • Now, let’s go!

Great Starter Teams

  • Air Force
  • Liberty
  • Florida Atlantic (FAU)
  • Florida International (FIU)
  • Hawaii
  • James Madison
  • App St.
  • UNLV
  • Alabama-Birmingham (UAB)
  • Western Kentucky
  • San Jose State
  • Akron

Here is where we will start with our coordinator. If you love the offensive side of the ball, start as an OC at JMU or FAU, and build an offensive juggernaut with sweet uniforms and great recruiting ties.

If you’re looking for a decent team with an under-the-radar great fanbase start at App St. or WKU.

Go to Vegas and dominate the Mountain West with UNLV, then move the Rebels to a bigger conference. Bring some prominence to the military academies by making Air Force dominate the Mountain West with their beautiful option.

Or, if you want to make Hawaii put on for their entire state, take the Rainbow Warriors to national prominence for the first time since 2007. Or, start with a leg in front and use Liberty, their explosive offense will keep you on the game for hours on end. Really start in the gutter with UAB who didn’t have a program for a few years, or FIU, a forgotten team in C-USA that has never really sniffed the prominence of a big program.

My pick: FAU

Look at those uniforms, man are they beautiful? FAU is a program dripping with swag, along with recent success in 2019 courtesy of Lane Kiffin. Now, the Owls take on the American Conference without the great Kiffin at the helm. A couple of winning seasons in Boca Raton could make FAU the premier group of five team in the country. #WinningInParadise

After you build up a program, look to try and raise a Power Five program up. Old Pac-12 schools could be very fun, or try and help Kentucky dominate the new SEC. The power is yours.
