Early Line for Kentucky vs. Georgia Football is Awfully Intriguing
Kentucky will not play in Georgia between the hedges until October 7. It’s six months away, but you can already hear the underdog howling.
Each year various sports books release early lines fro the biggest college football games of the year. Kentucky is rarely mentioned included on these short lists. Thanks to Mark Stoops, the Wildcats are now among featured games like Michigan vs. Ohio State, Tennessee vs. Alabama and USC vs. Notre Dame.
FanDuel recently rolled out lines for 37 2023 college football games. Georgia opens as a 24-point favorite over Kentucky. That’s A LOT of points.
The Wildcats have not defeated the Bulldogs since 2009, Kentucky’s last victory in Athens. Even though they have not won, Mark Stoops consistently plays it close with Kirby Smart.
Kentucky has been an underdog to Georgia by 20+ points in three of their last four meetings. Kentucky covered the spread in four straight games against Georgia, most recently falling by 10 points as a 22.5-point dog. The 2018 SEC East Championship Game in Lexington was the last time Georgia beat the number, winning by 17 as a 9-point favorite.

One more thing to consider: Kentucky will not be a 24-point dog when the opening line is released October 1. With a win at Vanderbilt and at home against Florida, both games where UK will be the favorite, the Cats can hit the road to Athens with a 5-0 record and a Top 25 ranking. Oddsmakers probably will not be so generous to the underdogs.
Is it crazy to bet Kentucky +24 against Georgia six months away from kickoff? It’s an idea that’s so crazy, it just might work. Enjoy your winnings responsibly, BBN.
