Eli Cox, Octavious Oxendine earn SEC Player of the Week honors
Two Kentucky Wildcats — and home state heroes — earned recognition from the league office for their performances in the 42-21 win over LSU. Eli Cox was named SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week and Octavious Oxendine was named Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week.
Cox, a sophomore guard from Nicholasville, played every offensive snap vs. LSU and graded at 91 percent. He and the rest of the Big Blue Wall helped Kentucky to 330 rushing yards, averaging 7.3 per attempt. Cox led the offensive line with seven knockdown blocks and had 15 blocks at the point of attack, including Will Levis’ quarterback sneak for a touchdown. He did not have any missed assignments and did not allow any quarterback sacks or pressures.

Oxendine, a defensive tackle from Radcliff, made three tackles, including the first two quarterback sacks of his career (-16 yards) on Saturday night. His seven-yard sack in the second quarter helped force a punt. He was also credited with a nine-yard sack when he forced the LSU quarterback into an intentional grounding call, which helped force another punt.
Unfortunately, Oxendine went down with an injury late in the game and had to exit the stadium on crutches. Sources tell Nick Roush he tore his meniscus. Today, Mark Stoops confirmed Oxendine will be out for the rest of the season.
