Tight end was a position of need for the Kentucky football program this offseason. The Wildcats addressed the position with the addition of Illinois transfer Henry Boyer in the winter transfer portal window but left spring practice with only four scholarship tight ends on the roster. That position was addressed again on Monday.

UCF transfer Elijah Brown has committed to Kentucky following his official visit over the weekend.

Elijah Brown is a former blue-chip recruit out of Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne who signed with Alabama out of high school and spent one season with the Crimson Tide. The tight end then transferred to Florida Atlantic and played for two seasons under Tom Herman. Brown entered the portal after the season and landed at UCF. Now the tight end is on the move again with two years of eligibility remaining.

Elijah Brown brings great size (6-6, 250) to the table and appeared in seven games (132 snaps) for FAU in 2024. Kentucky only has one true in-line tight end (Boyer) on the roster where Josh Kattus and Willie Rodriguez will be better suited as move tight ends who could play off the ball and be used in a variety of blocking schemes. Brown will give an offense that wants to utilize a heavy dose of 12 personnel some much-needed depth.

The multi-time transfer is the second tight end target to visit UK in the spring. New Mexico transfer Keayen Nead was on campus before committing to BYU.
