Is the Muss Bus on the move to Southern California? Eric Musselman is reportedly in the running for the USC head coaching job, interviewing for the opening on Wednesday, according to Scott Schrader of We Are SC.

The move comes following Andy Enfield‘s decision to leave the Trojans for SMU, the Mustangs announcing the hire on Monday with his introduction scheduled for Tuesday. Now, the Arkansas head coach is seriously considering a departure from the SEC and a return to the West Coast.

Musselman played at San Diego and made various coaching stops with the Golden State Warriors (2002-04), Sacramento Kings (2006-07), Reno Bighorns (2010-11), Los Angeles D-Fenders (2011-12), Arizona State (assistant, 2012-14) and Nevada (2015-19) before making his way to Arkansas in 2019.

After building a 111-59 overall record in Fayetteville with three Sweet 16s and two Elite Eights, he’s got his eyes on Los Angeles.

Enfield’s move was deemed a “game changer” for the Mustangs, a program armed with financial resources and a recruiting hotbed of elite talent in Dallas, sparking his interest after an 11-year stint at USC.

“We are excited to announce Andy Enfield as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at SMU,” athletics director Rick Hart said. “Coach Enfield is enthusiastic about joining the Mustang family and the ACC. He has a strong track record of building winning teams on the court and in the classroom and pursuing championships with integrity. We believe he is a game changer for SMU Men’s Basketball.”

“I am so excited to join the SMU family,” Enfield added. “It is an incredible time for the university as we enter the ACC. The investments SMU has made in athletics, the support and alignment from leadership — President Turner, Rick Hart, David Miller and others — as well as the passion of the SMU fan base and community made this an incredibly attractive opportunity. We will make Mustang fans and the city of Dallas proud and cannot wait to get started.”

CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander previously named Buzz Williams, Jamie Dixon, Jerome Tang, Niko Medved and Mark Pope as other potential names of interest for USC. Musselman, though, is the one gaining real traction with a job interview officially on the books.

May the coaching carousel continue to spin, now shaking up the heavy hitters of the SEC.
