Kentucky softball’s Erin Coffel was named a 2024 All-American on Wednesday by the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association (NFCA) for the third year in a row, the program’s first-ever three-time All-American.

Coffel, a senior, was voted to the Third Team for her success at the shortstop position. She is the sixth Kentucky player to crack one of the NFCA All-American teams, joining Molly Johnson (2009), Kelsey Nunley (2016), Katie Reed (2017), Abbey Cheek (2019), and Kayla Kowalik (2021, 2023).

During the 2024 season, Coffel played a huge role in advancing Kentucky to its 15th straight NCAA tournament. She batted .319 on the season and added 25 extra-base hits, including 12 doubles and 13 home runs. The shortstop also tallied 46 total hits and 33 RBI, both stats sitting among the top two for the team this season.

The native from Bremen, Indiana leaves Kentucky as a record holder in multiple categories, including the home run leader, tallying 68 total over her four-year career. She also leaves the ‘Cats holding records in walks, runs batted in, and slugging percentage.

Coffel was named to other prestigious awards for the 2024 season, including First Team All-Southeastern Conference for the second consecutive year, as well as the All-SEC defensive team, where SEC coaches named her the best shortstop in the conference.

Her first NFCA All-American award came after her record-setting season in 2022, where she was named to the Second Team. She followed that up with another Second Team slot after the 2023 season, where she led the nation in both walks and on-base percentage for the season.

The shortstop joins six other esteemed athletes as three-time winners of NFCA All-American honors this season.

  • Tiare Jennings (Oklahoma)
  • Valerie Cagle (Clemson)
  • Jadya Coleman (Oklahoma)
