ESPN ranks Kentucky WBB's recruiting class as 11th best in the nation
Kenny Brooks has been working diligently to compile his first roster at Kentucky. Through the transfer portal, he has brought in several high-profile talents that should prove to make the ‘Cats competitive in the SEC this season.
However, Brooks has also done some good work on the recruiting trail as well.
Given that, ESPN has ranked Brooks’ first recruiting class in Lexington as the 11th best in the country. Five other SEC teams made the Top 25 in (3) South Carolina, (5) Texas, (9) Florida, (16) Georgia and (24) Oklahoma.
ESPN notes that Clara Silva and Lexi Blue are two of Kentucky’s notable pickups, and rightfully so.
According to ESPN’s Shane Laflin, who compiled these rankings, said the following about Silva: “If she were a player in the U.S., she’d safely land in the top 10 in the recruiting rankings”. Silva averaged 18.1 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game in the FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship. Blue, on the other hand, is the No. 40 prospect in the 2024 class (ESPN).

However, it would be injustice to not mention the very first addition to this year’s squad — one that was here before Brooks even was, Tanah Becker. Becker committed to Kentucky while Kyra Elzy was still at the helm, and she stuck around for the Kenny Brooks era.
The 6-foot-1 wing averaged 12.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game for Hamilton Heights, a Christian academy down in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was selected to the All Canada Games team in 2022-23 and 2023-24. That’s basically the equivalent of being a McDonald’s All-American, but twice.
