ESPN's Holly Rowe names Kentucky WBB as her "dark horse" to keep an eye on
After a big 55-point win against USC Upstate, the Big Blue Nation is riding high on what Kentucky women’s basketball can be under Kenny Brooks this season. However, it’s not just those of us here in the Bluegrass, but people all around college basketball too.
On Good Game with Sarah Spain, ESPN telecaster and sideline reporter Holly Rowe went as far as to name Kentucky as her “dark horse” to keep an eye on this season. While her and Spain talked about programs like UConn, Iowa and LSU, Rowe had to throw the ‘Cats in the mix.
Her main reason for being so high on Kentucky? Kenny Brooks and Georgia Amoore — the two who led Virginia Tech to a Final Four berth in 2023.

“I don’t know how dark horse this is, but Kentucky,” Rowe said. “They have a new coach. Kenny [Brooks] is there, he came from Virginia Tech. He got Virginia Tech to the women’s Final Four, and they have a transfer in Georgia Amoore who was one of the key point guards in that run that helped them get to the Final Four.”
She added, “So, he’s at Kentucky now. Kentucky’s in the SEC, and the SEC is tough, but I think Kentucky can have a big wins improvement, can be competitive. He’s a brilliant coach, a brilliant man. I absolutely adore him.”
