One of the biggest storylines for Kentucky football entering the 2025 high school recruiting cycle had to do with tackle. Could Eric Wolford help fix the recent problems the program has had attracting talent at this premium position? Another step in the right direction was made on Thursday night.

Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch tackle Bryan Auguste committed to the Wildcats giving the program 14 high school commits in the class of 2025. The South Florida native and three-star prospect becomes the second true tackle prospect in the class joining four-star recruit Darrin Strey. Now it’s time to see what Wolford’s latest recruiting win brings to the table.

KSR’s Film Room is taking a closer look at the junior tape. Bryan Auguste is a true left tackle prospect with excellent movement skills.

Power + Agility

When the junior tape rolls, the first thing that stands out is how well the Kentucky commit Bryan Auguste moves. The three-star recruit owns excellent positional movement skills and that is an obvious strength for the South Florida native. Auguste is a smooth puller, can climb to the second level with ease, and flashes explosiveness on his punch.

On pulls, Auguste gets out of his stance quickly and can square up on second-level defenders. On combo blocks, the left tackle shows balance, and that allows him to get to off-ball linebackers after creating movement at the point of attack. Once locked on, the offensive line prospect shows finishing ability with grip strength, leg drive, and motor. At the line of scrimmage, there is some knockback power with a heavy-handed punch.

We see both power and movement ability at the point of attack from Auguste. When projecting his pass protection potential, those two skill sets give the prospect a high ceiling. The three-star recruit is a very good positional athlete and an intriguing prospect.

True Left Tackle

Junior college transfer Anfernee Crease flipped from SMU to Kentucky in April and will be on the roster in 2024. The Texas native gives the offense a true left tackle prospect with multiple years of eligibility remaining. Bryan Auguste gives them another.

While Darrin Strey appears to be more of a power player who projects as a potential better fit at right tackle, Auguste has the athleticism to become a good blindside protector and flashes versatility as a run blocker. The South Florida native’s skill set gives him a chance to develop into a quality SEC starter. If the unverified measurements (6-6, 285) are legitimate, Auguste checks a clear length box and that increases his value.

The latest Kentucky offensive line commit is a true tackle with agility and gives the Wildcats another legitimate long-term option on the left side.
