FILM ROOM: Dominika Paurová has a high-energy style of play that will fit in at Kentucky
Welcome to the final edition of KSR’s Film Room series, a weekly series where we’ll be taking a look at each player on Kentucky’s 2024-25 roster and breaking down their film. Here, we’ll look at sophomore guard Dominika Paurová, who transferred in from Oregon State this offseason.

After suffering a lower leg injury back in July, Paurová (as well as Jordan Obi) was announced to be “out indefinitely” by UK. Although it is uncertain if we will get to see her in action this season or not, we can still look forward to what contributions she can make in the future.
Cashing in on open three-point attempts
In an offense under Kenny Brooks, if you’re going to play on the wing, you have to be able to shoot the three, and Paurová can do just that.
When contested, she’s pretty good at being able to rise above the defender and knock down the shot. Even with a hand in her face, you can feel pretty good about the shot falling.
However, when she’s open, she’s money. You’d think that this is an obvious thing for a college guard, but a lot of players tend to either freeze when they’re wide open or they just fail to capitalize on the opportunity. More often than not, Paurová is going to nail that open jumper.

The ability to drive by defenders
It’s good that she can shoot the three, obviously, but she’s an incredible scorer on the inside as well.
Paurová is especially quick with the ball in her hands, and when she’s one-on-one with a defender, she’s going to win that matchup most of the time. If a defender is turned a certain way or playing just loose enough, she’s going to drive right by you and score.
So, when teams scheme against her shooting, they have to be aware of her ability to get the rim too.
Playing with intensity on defense
As good as Paurová is offensively, she’s excellent when she’s on defense as well.
On offense, she plays with a high motor — something you hear about on the gridiron more than you do on the hardwood. The fact is, she brings that motor on defense too. She’s going to be persistent, and she’s going to cause a disruption in the offense.
So, who knows exactly when we’ll get to see her on the court wearing Kentucky blue. Whether it be in 10 weeks or 10 months, her presence is going to be felt when she gets back to playing.
