FINAL: Kentucky WBB handily beats La Salle 74-52
Another night in Memorial Coliseum means another blowout victory for Kentucky Women’s Basketball. The Wildcats dominated the La Salle Explorers 74-52 to continue their undefeated record at home this season. After tonight’s victory, the ‘Cats have a +34 average margin of victory at Memorial Coliseum this year.
Dre’Una Edwards led the charge for the ‘Cats. The senior forward dropped 22 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in 36 minutes of play. Furthermore, Edwards made an impressive 8/11 of her field-goal attempts.
Despite the final score, the ‘Cats didn’t jump to an immediate lead. Halfway through the first quarter, UK was only ahead 8-7. Unfortunately for La Salle, Kentucky didn’t plan on letting the Explorers stick around for long. After going on an 8-0 run, the Wildcats took a commanding 27-14 heading into the second period.
Despite Kentucky going on a five-minute scoring drought in the second quarter, La Salle didn’t make up much ground. The ‘Cats went into the half still ahead by 11 points. Sadly for BBN, the ‘Cats didn’t leave their offensive woes in the first half.

Once again, the ‘Cats were outscored in the third period. Heading into the final 10 minutes of the game, La Salle cut Kentucky’s lead to 56-47. Nevertheless, UK wasn’t shaken.
Kentucky Women’s Basketball went on a 7-0 run in the fourth period to extend their lead to 65-49. The rest was history. The Wildcats outscored La Salle 18-5 in the fourth period to pull out a comfortable 74-52 win.
Of course, Edwards wasn’t the only ‘Cat who put up some satisfying figures. Rhyne Howard added 16 points, six rebounds and six assists. As expected, Robyn Benton put on a show of her own. The guard recorded 17 points and shot 3/3 from beyond the arc. Additionally, Benton snagged seven boards.
Kentucky’s next contest is on Dec. 1 against No. 22 West Virginia.
