FINALLY! A UK Bar in Louisville

by:Matt Jones03/17/10
ukbar If there is one thing that has frustrated me most since my decision to move to the largest city in Kentucky, it has been the lack of a UK commercial presence in Louisville. As we all know, the city has Kentucky fans by the boatload and while most attempts at putting a number on them are pure guesswork, a significant amount of Blue resides in this city. However, most television stations focus on Louisville, there is a radio station solely devoted to Louisville sports, yet no Kentucky show (hint, hint) and bars tend to cater to the Louisville fan base and not the Big Blue. I have been asked for years, "where should I go in Louisville to watch a UK game?" and for the vast majority of the time, I had no answer. No we do. A total UK-themed bar called Big Blue Country has just opened in Louisville, just in time for March Madness. It is located on the corner of Baxter Avenue and Lexington Avenue (across from Baxter Jack's) and is the perfect spot for UK fans in the Ville. I went out there last week and was amazed at the Blue everywhere, the UK memorabilia hanging on the walls and the total UK atmosphere in the place. Lexington doesnt even really have a spot that is this UK-themed and it is a great place to watch a game. I plan on seeing some of the NCAA Tournament there this week and they get quite a crowd for UK games. If you get a chance, go check it out. It really is a great spot in Louisville for UK fans and a chance to get away from the Red to cheer on the Cats.
