First Down Kentucky: A Much-Needed Spiral
The Kentucky basketball season ended disastrously Thursday night. There’s no silver lining. It’s impossible to quickly move on from such a devastating defeat.
JJ Weaver reminded the BBN that football season is not too far away. He’s right. There are only three weeks until we get to see the Kentucky football team in action at the spring game.
Drinking up football content cannot fill the hole in the middle of the BBN, but it doesn’t hurt. God bless the savvy social media manager who saved this compilation of completions until we needed it most. Brock Vandagriff is delivering darts and Dane Key is making diving catches inside the Nutter Field House.

That isn’t the only football footage from the first week of Kentucky spring practice. We also saw snippets of Barion Brown and Fred Farrier catching passes from BVG.

The Kentucky football team will put on shoulder pads tomorrow for spring practice No. 3.
Consistency Expected from Wide Receivers
Leadership and chemistry were an issue in the Kentucky wide receiver room in 2023. The switch cannot be flipped overnight. Even though the early reports indicate exceptional play from the pass-catchers, this is only the beginning. Offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan wants to see how they handle adversity over long stretches of time.

“I certainly think there’s a number of guys that can step up in that (leadership) role,” Hamdan said on Thursday. “I like the urgency, I like the way we’re practicing, I think the true leadership will come from the guys that can be consistent over long periods of time. Again, we’re through practice 2, everybody’s generally happy right now, but the leadership’s going to come from the guys who deal with the ups and the downs.”
Kentucky Dealing with Injuries
Mark Stoops briefly spoke with the media following UK Pro Day. The Kentucky head coach primarily talked about the former players participating in the event, but he did mention that the current team is currently dealing with a few injuries. Stoops did not dive into specifics. We’ll know more in the coming days and weeks.
