Talking Season officially arrived on Tuesday with the commencement of Big 12 Media Days in Las Vegas. It’s caught the attention of some around the college football world, but most fans are more focused on College Football ’25, the highly-anticipated video game hitting shelves in ten days.

It’s making headlines regularly now, but a few months ago the biggest story about the game was the absence of Texas’ backup quarterback. That sounds ridiculous when put that way, but the Manning name carries weight.

Arch Manning initially declined the option to be included in the game. The former five-star made the decision instead to stay “focused on playing football on the field.” That sounds like a load of crap, right? Well, it was.

Today Manning revealed he will in fact be a part of College Football ’25 by rolling out a video with his uncle, Eli Manning.

Why wait until now to opt in? It was a wise negotiation tactic by the Mannings. On3’s Pete Nakos reports the youngest Manning was compensated between $50-$60,000 to promote the game for EA Sports. Life is all about leverage and Arch Manning used his to cash in.

An Appropriate Memoriam

Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State sucked up most of the oxygen at Big 12 Media Days, but one character who wasn’t there also sent shockwaves across the palatial grounds.

Happy Birthday Mark Stoops!

Mark Stoops is celebrating his 57th birthday a little more than a week before he takes the podium at SEC Media Days for the 12th time. The winningest coach in the history of Kentucky football will be the most seasoned veteran at the event as the longest-tenured coach in the league. Do we think he will come home for the trip to the Lone Star State?

This Looks Incredible

Allow me to take a brief pause on the football content to talk a little cinema. After watching this week’s House of the Dragon, I’ve caught a fever for more intense action, and boy, does Gladiator II appear to fit the billing. I’m typically not a fan of sequels decades after the original, but this looks incredible. Boats in the Coliseum? Denzel Washington. Pedro Pascal?!?! I need it and I need it now!
