The change of the calendar to August means we’re one step closer to kicking off the 2024 Kentucky football season. It also has significance in the recruiting world.

By now, you’re probably used to seeing offer announcements from prospects on social media. The thing is, not all of those offers are what we call “committable offers.” It sounds silly, but the initial offer is more of a symbolic gesture. It does not mean the prospect has a spot on the roster if they decide to commit.

Today is the day when schools can dole out official scholarship offers to rising seniors. The piece of paper isn’t so different than your typical recruiting graphic, but it serves as a significant milestone for some high school athletes. A sample of what this year’s looks like for Ja’Kayden Ferguson and Stone Saunders, a pair of Kentucky football commits.

You might not have noticed a subtle difference in Mikkel Skinner‘s offer from Kentucky. The Cincinnati commit has only unofficially visited Kentucky, which means the four-star tight end could not participate in a photoshoot. The graphics department had to use a little photoshop for Skinner, who will likely officially visit Lexington in the fall.

They did it again

On the first day of fall camp, we saw Brock Vandagriff connect on a long ball with Barion Brown. It was basically Kentucky football fan fiction. Well, they did it again on day two.

This long ball admittedly wasn’t as great as the first. The pass from BVG is a bit wobbly, and Brown steps out of bounds rather than into the end zone. Nevertheless, it’s not slowing down the Kentucky football hype train.

An Official Addition to the Kentucky Football Roster

Dennious Jackson (pronounced dee-NIE-us) was the latest addition to the Kentucky football roster. The Wildcats added the Georgia nose guard from the junior college ranks following spring practice attrition at the interior defensive line position. He arrived last week and is practicing with the jersey No. 79.

Jackson wasn’t the only new addition to the roster. A few more walk-ons were added to the fold, bringing my count to 118 on this year’s Kentucky football roster. That’s typically not noteworthy, but roster limits will change to 105 following the approval of the House settlement. College football programs will not have to make cuts right away, but this roster will be trimmed down in the future.

Kentucky Football Fact and Record Books are Here

As a child of the 90s, one of my favorite traditions (aside from sneaking into Commonwealth Stadium) was getting my hands on a Kentucky Football Media Guide. I spent hours browsing through the pages, learning about players on this year’s team and the history of the program.

Things have changed over the last 25 years. Instead of printing out pages that would soon become outdated, the outstanding Kentucky football sports information department has published it all online and organized the information into two separate units. If you love all things Kentucky football, dive in tonight and see what you may find.

Breaking a Streak at Kentucky Football Media Day

Tomorrow is Kentucky Football Media Day at Kroger Field. KSR will have boots on the ground when Mark Stoops kicks things off with a 10 am press conference. Unfortunately, I will not be among them. This will be the first time I’ve missed a Kentucky Football Media Day since 2012.

There will be FOMO, but do not fret. The entire crew will have everything covered and don’t worry, this absence is excused. Roush Baby No. 3 is expected to arrive tomorrow morning. I’m more nervous than an offensive lineman across from Deone Walker. Wish me luck. Like those poor bastards trying to block Deone, I need all the luck I can get.
