Kentucky is very busy working the transfer portal looking to add players to their 2023 roster. But some former Wildcats are finding homes. One will be heading to the Big 12.

Class of 2018 signee Davoan Hawkins spent three seasons in Lexington before leaving the Kentucky football program after the 2020 season. The South Florida native then transferred to FCS Tennessee State and starred head coach Eddie George. Now Hawkins will be moving back to the Power Five for his super senior season.

Hawkins announced his transfer commitment to West Virginia on Sunday afternoon.

Hawkins recorded 31 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss for Tennessee State in 2022. The former mid three-star recruit was an active line of scrimmage player at the FCS level and will now be attempting to translate that in the Big 12.

Former Kentucky offensive coordinator Neal Brown enters a critical year five in Morgantown with a new athletic director and a losing record (22-25). The Danville native is very much on the hot seat and entering a must-win season.

Hawkins will be looking to help Brown turn things around after WVU lost offensive coordinator Graham Harrell to Purdue after just one season with Brown.
