Beau Allen has a new college football home. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports the former Kentucky quarterback has transferred to Tarleton State. He will begin practice today for the Texans.

Allen did not waste time. He entered the portal less than a week ago. He was spotted watching a Western Kentucky football practice before ultimately choosing to play at Tarleton State.

Beau Allen was a four-star recruit when the Lexington Catholic product signed with the Wildcats in the 2020 recruiting class. He appeared in five games during his two-year Kentucky career and completed 11-of-19 passes for 132 yards (6.9 yards per attempt). He also scrambled for a rushing touchdown against New Mexico State.

Tarleton State is an FCS program that competes in the Western Athletic Conference. They recently moved up from the D-II ranks for the 2020-21 season, making the Texans ineligible for postseason play until 2024. Last year Tarleton State went 6-5. Even though they’re new to the FCS level, there was a report during the realignment scramble that Conference-USA considered bringing in the Texans. The Big Blue Nation knows this school best for its men’s basketball coach, Billy Gillispie.

Even though Allen left Kentucky after the transfer window closed, he’ll likely receive a waiver to play right away. Tarleton State has TCU on the schedule this fall. Beau Allen still has four years of eligibility remaining. Best of luck to Beau in Stephenville, Texas.
