Former Kentucky RB AJ Rose Signs with Los Angeles Rams
AJ Rose just missed out on the chance to play in Liam Coen’s offense at Kentucky. He’ll get a second chance in the fall of 2022 with the Los Angeles Rams. The defending Super Bowl Champions announced on Twitter they have signed former Missouri tight end Jared Pickney and the former Kentucky running back.
Undrafted in 2021, Rose signed with the Vikings as a free agent and turned heads in the preseason. He racked up 100 yards in his NFL preseason debut and caught a pass for 18 yards. Rose performed well in his three games, but remained on the practice squad once the regular season began. The new Minnesota coaching staff waived Rose this summer prior to the start of mandatory mini-camp.

Rose lived in the shadow of Benny Snell for most his time at Kentucky, but still produced a lengthy list of achievements. A Cleveland, Oh. native, Rose finished his career with 1,971 rushing yards to rank tenth in UK history. The big-play back averaged 5.8 yards per carry, the third-best mark by a Kentucky rusher, and won three straight bowl games.
Built for a wide zone offense, Rose is in a good spot entering this summer’s training camp. Injuries have forced the Rams to install a rotating door in the running backs room, potential providing an invaluable opportunity for the former Wildcat in 2022.
