Former Kentucky target Treysen Eaglestaff is back on the market following USC decommitment

Could Kentucky pull off the Lamont Paris double-dip? Mark Pope took advantage of Trent Noah’s decommitment from South Carolina last offseason, and now, another former Wildcat target is back on the market. North Dakota transfer Treysen Eaglestaff, who committed to the Gamecocks back in March, has decided to reopen his recruitment.
The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman first reported the news and On3’s Joe Tipton has since confirmed.
“This was a difficult decision, but after discussing this with my family this is the best course of action for my future”, Eaglestaff told Goodman. “Thank you to Coach Paris and the South Carolina staff for recruiting me during this process.”
Kentucky first joined the likes of Kansas and Gonzaga to express early interest before Eaglestaff committed to Paris at USC.
The rising senior from Bismarck, N.D. averaged 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game this season and is rated as the No. 71 overall prospect in the transfer portal, according to the On3 rankings. He shot 36 percent from three on 7.1 attempts per contest in 2024-25.

If nothing else, it’s a reminder that the transfer portal does not close until April 22 — still six days away, opening the door to a new wave of potential targets through next Tuesday. That’s also not considering remaining high school prospects, reclassification options and players coming from overseas to play college basketball. Those decisions can last all the way through the summer.
Lamar Wilkerson was a miss for the Wildcats, but there is both plenty of time with more targets to come as Pope and his staff look for their shooter to put a bow on the 2025-26 roster.
