Former Kentucky TE Justin Rigg waived by Tennessee Titans
Justin Rigg‘s immediate future in the NFL will not be alongside Will Levis with the Tennessee Titans. With the 53-man roster deadline coming up on Tuesday, the former Wildcat was among the franchise’s final cuts on Sunday.
Rigg joined kicker Michael Badgley, linebacker L.J. Davis, wide receiver Gavin Holmes, guard Zack Johnson and center James Murray as players released today, the Titans announced.
Signing a futures contract with the Titans back in January, Rigg caught one pass for five yards in three preseason games. He developed a strong relationship with Levis during training camp, even catching a touchdown.
“It felt good,” Levis told KSR of throwing the touchdown to Rigg. “We connected for the first time here back in 7-on-7s the other day, so it was good to keep the streak going. I love Justin as a dude and as a player and had some flashbacks of my junior year at Kentucky.”

An undrafted free agent at the conclusion of the 2022 NFL Draft, Rigg originally signed with the Cincinnati Bengals before he was ultimately waived to close out the preseason. He then spent two weeks on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad before he was released once again.
Now after a brief stint in Tennessee, he’s back searching for a spot in the league.
A former three-star recruit out of high school, Rigg was a four-year letter winner at the University of Kentucky. The 2016 signee ultimately played a school-record 63 games, including 35 starts and the last 16 of his career. He racked up a total of 547 yards and five touchdown receptions on 50 catches, good for an average of 10.9 yards per catch.
The 6-foot-6, 263-pound tight end out of Springboro, Ohio originally signed with Kentucky over Bowling Green, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Ohio, Pittsburgh, Toledo and Wake Forest.
