Former Kentucky WBB forward Nyah Leveretter has 'been an amazing teammate' at Georgia
This offseason, former Kentucky women’s basketball forward Nyah Leveretter transferred to Georgia after a four-year stint in Lexington which included an SEC Tournament Championship back in 2022.
Unfortunately for Leveretter, her senior season was derailed by an ACL tear she suffered in February of 2023, so Kentucky fans didn’t get to see her last year. However, after getting a fresh start at another SEC school, Leveretter seems to be carving out a role for herself at Georgia.
KSR spoke with two of her current teammates, Roxane Makolo and Asia Avinger, at SEC Media Day in Birmingham about how Leveretter is doing down in Athens.
“She’s amazing,” Makolo told KSR. “She’s been an amazing teammate. So far, she’s working hard. She’s a hard worker, always there for her teammate, cheering, talking in practice. So, it’s been helpful. I think her experience being with Kentucky — she won an SEC [Championship], if I’m not mistaken. She’s really going to help us.”
While Leveretter may not be 100% at the moment, she’s starting to get back to what she used to do on the court.

“She’s looking good, really efficient close to basket. She’s also working on her outside shots and everything. So, I’m excited for her.”
Additionally, Avinger was high on just how great Leveretter is all-around. Whether it be on the court or in the locker room, she brings what the Bulldogs needed heading into this year.
“Oh, I love her as a person, as a teammate, as a player,” Avinger said. “I’m just ready for her to come back and just add to our game. I think she fits in really well. She’s going to be a big help for us, definitely. So, I’m looking forward to it.”
She added, “I think she brings energy, she brings a positive attitude, and I think she’s going to be really big for us in the post too, and she could hit her open shots as well. So, I think she’s only going to make us better.”
