Former Kentucky WR target Nasir Addison decommits from Maryland
A former Kentucky target turned Maryland pledge has backed off his initial decision.
On Friday night, three-star ’23 wide receiver Nasir Addison announced on Twitter that he would be decommitting from Maryland and reopening his recruitment. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound pass-catcher out of Irvington, NJ originally chose the Terrapins back in October but earned five Power Five offers soon after that decision, including scholarships from the likes of Ole Miss and Michigan State.
“After days of evaluation and weighing my options with my family, I understand that the decisions I make now and in the days to come will be life changing for myself and my family,” Addison announced on Twitter. “I’ve never taken the process of college recruitment lightly. Furthermore (with) the support of my family, I will decommitting from the University of Maryland and re-evaluating the scholarship offers I’ve currently received. I would like to thank coach (Mike) Locksley, (assistant) coach (Henry) Baker and the staff and the university for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime.”
Addison was a Kentucky target prior to picking Maryland. He received an offer from defensive coordinator Brad White and the Wildcats in the spring of 2021. Addison is considered the No. 1193 overall rising senior in the country and a top 25 player from New Jersey, per the On3 Consensus.
