Former New Mexico OT Wallace Unamba will Transfer to Kentucky
Kentucky has added another offensive lineman who most recently played college football in the land of enchantment. Former New Mexico offensive tackle Wallace Unamba will transfer to Kentucky, he tells KSR Plus’ Jacob Polacheck.
From Garland, Texas — a Dallas suburb and the home of Tyrese Maxey — Unamba began his college career in the JUCO ranks. He was a two-time All-American at Kilgore College before the 6-foot-5, 335-pounder transferred to FAU. He spent one season in Boca Raton, then transferred to New Mexico to play for Bronco Mendenhall’s Lobos.
In 2024, Unamba started in 10 games at right tackle nad had a PFF grade of 63.1. He allowed zero sacks and had ten penalties while paving the way for a rushing offense that ranked fourth nationally with 253.4 yards per game.
Unamba has one year of eligibility remaining. He also visited Virginia and received some interest from Cal and Stanford. He spoke with Jacob Polacheck before making his trip to Kentucky where Eric Wolford gave him a committable offer.

“It’s the SEC, so that’s the best of the best,” Unamba said. “I’d like to put myself in that atmosphere and really challenge myself. I would love to be able to play on national TV every Saturday, so I can get a lot of eyes for the league.”
Kentucky now has three incoming offensive linemen from the transfer portal, OG Josh Braun, OT Alex Wollschlaeger, and Unamba. They’re expected to host WKU C Evan Wibberley for an official visit tomorrow. Don’t be surprised if Eric Wolford is still kicking tires to find another offensive tackle to add to the equation.
