Former Wildcats combine for 23 points in Team USA win over Serbia
25 percent of the USA Men’s Olympic basketball roster went to the University of Kentucky. That is a remarkable stat that we know is true but still unbelievable. On Sunday, the team officially got their quest for gold underway in group play against Serbia, a team led by the man who edged out Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for NBA MVP this season, Nikola Jokic.
And just like a World War, America came out on top.
Devin Booker, Anthony Davis, and Bam Adebayo combined for 23 points for the Fighting Uncle Sams, as the good guys took down Serbia 110-84. Book got the start and was extremely efficient with the rock, knocking down four out of his five 3-point attempts on his way to 12 points. He also dished out five assists and came away with two steals.
AD was tops on the team in rebounds, grabbing eight boards to go along with his seven points and a steal. And Bam chipped in four points, two rebounds, and two assists.
The players will get a couple of days, but they’ll be back in action against the world’s youngest country, South Sudan, on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. EST. Team USA narrowly escaped a massive upset at the hands of Wenyen Gabriel and South Sudan not even a week ago, albeit in an exhibition game, which means both teams will be coming out firing in this matchup.

South Sudan beat up on Puerto Rico in their opening game Sunday, 90-79. Gabriel put up crooked letters in every stat category on the sheet, with six points, nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and one steal. Oh, and six turnovers and five fouls.
Until Wednesday, Book, Bam, and Davis will keep enjoying repping their country, raising the Stars and Stripes all over Paris.
