Four former Wildcats to participate in virtual NBA Draft Combine

Four former Wildcats will be participating in this year's NBA Draft Combine, which will be virtual this year due to the coronavirus, but it's not the four you may be thinking. Nick Richards, Immanuel Quickley, Ashton Hagans and Khalil Whitney will be participating. Neither Tyrese Maxey nor EJ Montgomery are currently listed as participants. A typical combine brings the class's top players to Chicago each May to show off their talents before the subsequent NBA draft. But of course, 2020 is not your typical year. This year, the NBA will instead host a virtual combine where players will take part in both virtual and in-person tests. Players will conduct video interviews and one-on-one video workouts with teams, in addition to individual strength and agility testing, anthropometric measurements, shooting drills and a “Pro Day” video. They'll also be able to go through medical examinations at their nearest NBA facility with the corresponding team physician. In total, 61 players will participate. Maxey, who is being projected as a late-lottery pick, may not be on the list, but he's hardly the only one. Several other top talents will not participate, including Anthony Edwards (Georgia), James Wiseman (Memphis) and Obi Toppin (Dayton). Even in a normal year, lottery prospects tend to sit out of the combine to avoid either hurting their draft stock or injuring themselves. Here's a look at this year's complete list: The combine will take place in phases from Sept. 28 through November to allow teams the opportunity to fully evaluate prospects. The NBA Draft is still scheduled for November 18, 2020.
