Four Home Runs Push Kentucky Softball Past WKU

In the third game of the season against the Hilltoppers, the Kentucky softball team hit four home runs to run-rule WKU, winning 9-1. This is the fourth straight win for the Wildcats.
Borzilleri Bombs Away
More known for her leadership and defense at first base, Lauren Borzilleri put on a hitting clinic against the Hilltoppers. She hit two home runs to help Kentucky earn the win.
This is not the first time Borzilleri has had success against WKU this season. Previously in the year, she had posted five RBIs on four hits versus the Hilltoppers. After Tuesday, she now has nine RBIs on six hits against the familiar foe.
Hallie Mitchell and Allie Blum saw Borzilleri having so much fun, they got in on the action too. Their home runs helped Kentucky secure the run-rule.
Mitchell followed Borzilleri’s second home run with a solo shot of her own. The ball cleared the right field wall and put Kentucky up by five in the bottom of the fifth inning. This was her fourth home run of the season.

Allie Blum finished the game off with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. The freshman was recently moved to the clean up spot in the batting order, and did not disappoint for the Wildcats. This was her sixth home run of the season.
Kentucky seems to be on an offensive heater as of late which will be super important in their upcoming SEC series. They will be playing against three ranked opponents to end the season.
The Wildcats currently sit in 12th place in SEC standings and could use some big wins to end the regular season. All teams in the SEC will make the conference tournament no matter their standing, but a higher placement could give Kentucky a bye to start the week.
