In his second stint with the Tennessee Titans, Frankfort, KY native Logan Woodside has done everything he can to make the final roster for the nearby NFL team.

Woodside, who is a former quarterback from the University of Toledo (Toledo, coincidentally, is Kentucky’s opponent to open the season on Saturday), has been vying for the third-string position to make the Titans final 53-man roster, which must be submitted to the NFL’s office by 3 p.m. on Saturday.

During the Titans final preseason game on Thursday against the Chicago Bears, Woodside threw for 212 yards, completing 17 of his 29 passing attempts while not tossing an interception. In the three preseason games prior, Woodside combined to throw for 327 yards on 29-47 passing with two touchdowns and zero picks. Thursday night was his last chance to make a final impression and another two touchdown passes plus the 19-15 win helped him make his mark.

“I just try to make the most of it, not try to make it any bigger than it needs to be,” Woodside said, according to The Tennessean.

The No. 1 option, Marcus Mariota, and No. 2 option for the Titans, Ryan Tannehill, did not play in the final preseason game, giving Woodside plenty of opportunities to show off the skills that once got him drafted in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 24-year old from Kentucky was signed to the Titans practice squad last September before being cut a few weeks later. Some poorly-timed run-ins with the law have hindered his ability to consistently remain in good favor with NFL teams, but he’s earned his second chance.

After his best performance as a Titan on Thursday, Woodside knows that it still might not be enough.

“I’ve put everything on the field and throughout this whole training camp,” Woodside said, according to The Tennessean. “Whatever’s meant to be will be, and I’ll be happy for it.”

With under 90 seconds remaining in the game against the Bears at Soldier Field, Woodside threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Dalyn Dawkins, ultimately winning the game for the Titans.

Woodside finishes the preseason completing 46 of his 76 pass attempts for 539 yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions, and a quarterback rating of 99.6.
