An in-state prospect has backed off his decision to join the Wildcats.

On Friday morning, class of 2023 three-star running back Kaden Moorman out of Frankfort (KY) announced via Twitter that he has decommitted from the University of Kentucky and fully reopened his recruitment. Moorman originally chose the ‘Cats last October over Toledo and Wisconsin. He is considered the No. 703 overall high school senior in the country, per the On3 Consensus.

I’d like to thank the university of Kentucky for everything, and the fans as well, just want to explore my options and be useful of my 5 official visits wisely and make the best deiciosn for me and my family. Kentucky could still be a landing spot. as that being said I would like to decommit and publicly open my recruitment 100% back up to all schools. Thank you. Please respect my decision.

Moorman was an important piece in helping kick off the 2023 recruiting class last fall. He was a vocal recruiter for the program and consistently visited campus whenever possible for gameday trips, but the two sides have ultimately decided to part ways. Moorman does note in his decommitment tweet that a return to Kentucky is not off the table.

During the 2022 season, Moorman has been dealing with nagging injuries that have slowed down his production for Franklin County High School. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound power back has still managed 244 rushing yards and five touchdowns in just five games played for the 4-4 Flyers.

With Moorman back on the market, UK now has 14 total commits for the ’23 class, four of which are in-state prospects. Three-star Khalifa Keith out of Alabama is now the lone running back commit of the group, however, the staff has continued to survey its options for future ball carriers, including three-star tailback Jamarion Wilcox out of South Paulding (GA), who was in Lexington last weekend for a visit.
