Frederick Douglass '24 CB Jeremiah Lowe commits to Michigan
Local high school football powerhouse Frederick Douglass has developed another Power 5 prospect, only he won’t be suiting up in the blue and white.
On Thursday afternoon, three-star class of 2024 cornerback Jeremiah Lowe committed to the Michigan Wolverines. Lowe announced his decision in front of friends and family inside the school’s auditorium, choosing Michigan over offers from the likes of Kentucky, Boston College, Marshall, West Virginia, and Missouri. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound defensive back earned his offer from UK back in October, although the Wildcats did not fully pursue him in the late stages of his recruitment.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Lowe is considered the No. 1,357 overall rising senior and a top 150 cornerback in the country.
Michigan was the first Power 5 school to offer Lowe, extending him a scholarship all the way back in June 2022, and he has since visited the program multiple times. Lowe’s primary recruiter is Michigan defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale, who was once the DB coach at Kentucky. Clinkscale has continued to recruit the Bluegrass State ever since departing for the Big Ten, dipping into his old home for this latest recruiting victory.
“They are breeding winners over there,” Lowe recently told The Wolverine. “They’ve had a lot of recent success. They do things right, and they pay a lot of attention to detail. I really like Michigan.”

After missing out on a handful of their top cornerback targets — including four-star Terhyon Nichols, who committed to Kentucky — Michigan elected to go all-in on Lowe. The Wolverines made him a priority down the stretch and are high on his potential. Michigan also has a pair of commitments from fellow in-state prospects Jacob and Jerod Smith, two four-star recruits who recently transferred to Corbin, although UK is looking to flip both.
Lowe isn’t the only Frederick Douglass rising senior headed off to play Power 5 football in 2024. Three-star OT Zuri Madison is committed to Arkansas while three-star CB Terrion Hicks is committed to Northwestern. Three-star IOL Demeco Kennedy is considering the likes of Illinois, West Virginia, and Purdue, among others.
Frederick Douglass has become an important pipeline school for Kentucky over the years, but it does not appear that the Wildcats will take any Broncos from this recruiting cycle.
