From what little we've seen, ball movement will be a big part of Kentucky's offense under Mark Pope

In previous years, one of Kentucky’s biggest problems was running a “modern” offense that could be competitive against the teams that can match your talent, especially in the postseason. John Calipari’s dribble-drive concept worked for the better part of a decade, but it slowly turned into stall ball, and Kentucky’s offense became stagnant more often than not.

However, from what little we have seen through various practice clips and highlight packages, it doesn’t appear that will be much of an issue moving forward.

Instead, ball movement and moving without the ball in your hands will be key in Mark Pope‘s offense.

In the two-minute video that came from Kentucky’s practice against La Familia in Rupp, the current ‘Cats took just 16 total dribbles, and that’s including a fastbreak as well. While that may seem like a weird thing to take note of, it demonstrates that no one is sitting there dribbling the air out of the ball.

Kentucky’s offense is free-flowing and constant, which hasn’t been the case in several years. Maybe now the ‘Cats can put up some absurd offensive numbers — like shattering the school’s three-point attempts record.
