Future Wildcat WR Montavin Quisenberry named Kentucky Mr. Football
Montavin Quisenberry has been considered the most versatile high school football player in the state all year long. He’ll join the Kentucky football program next season with the state’s highest individual honor under his belt.
On Tuesday morning, Quisenberry was named the 2024 Kentucky Mr. Football winner by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association. A two-way star at Boyle County, the 5-foot-9, 175-pound pure athlete is signed to play his college ball with the Wildcats beginning with the 2025 season.
“We always have watched him. He’s a player that’s not afraid to come over here in camp and compete,” Head coach Mark Stoops said of Quisenberry on Signing Day. “So I just think his versatility, toughness, overall athletic ability. You know, I just want him on our roster.”
Quisenberry, who flipped from Kentucky after originally committing to West Virginia, will arrive on campus this January as an early enrollee. He’s expected to play wide receiver with the Wildcats.
During his senior season with the Rebels, which finished 12-1 before losing in the Class 4A state quarterfinals, Quisenberry filled up the stat sheet on both sides of the field.

He ran the ball 79 times for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns while also hauling in 49 catches for 794 receiving yards and 13 more touchdowns. He even threw for two additional scores. On defense, Quisenberry recorded 31 total tackles and three interceptions. As a special teams returner, he brought back one punt and one kickoff for touchdowns across his 13 games played.
This isn’t the first statewide recognition for Quisenberry this season either. He’s also been named Kentucky’s Gatorade Player of the Year and the Louisville Quarterback Club’s Paul Hornung Award winner. Quisenberry will become the 16th Mr. Football winner since 1986 to play college football at Kentucky.
Sayre‘s Chad Pennington was named the Jimmie Reed Coach of the Year by the KFCA after leading the Spartans to the school’s first-ever state championship earlier this month. Sayre finished with a perfect 15-0 record in Class A, capped off by a 27-22 championship game victory over Raceland.
