GAMEDAY: Will Levis Watch Underway for Kentucky vs. South Carolina

Will Kentucky have its star when the Wildcats host South Carolina at Kroger Field? We probably will not know with 100% certainty until about 30 minutes before the ball is kicked off at 7:30 pm ET on the SEC Network.
Will Levis is considered questionable entering tonight’s game against the Gamecocks. The Kentucky quarterback is one of a handful of players that got banged up in a physical loss to Ole Miss. He was spotted around Lexington wearing a boot this week. Mark Stoops did not share that Levis is out, but there’s reason to believe he will be a game-time decision tonight, potentially giving Kaiya Sheron his first career start.
Whoever’s starting for the Cats will face a South Carolina team in search of its first SEC win. The Gamecocks won back-to-back non-conference games after they were out-scored 92-37 by Georgia and Arkansas. While South Carolina fans are still hoping for Spencer Rattler to live up to the hype, former five-star running back MarShawn Lloyd has emerged as a playmaker out of the backfield.
Kentucky can’t let one loss turn into two. Winners of seven of eight in this series, South Carolina is desperate to turn back the tide. Which side will prevail? A sold out crowd awaits.
The Latest on Will Levis
After meeting with the Kentucky coaches on Friday, Cole Cubelic shared some interesting information on the Paul Finebaum Show. That was echoed late last night in a report by ESPN’s Chris Low, stating a foot injury will make the UK quarterback a game-time decision.
Levis was banged up last week in the 22-19 loss at Ole Miss and also dislocated his middle finger on his left non-throwing hand. Levis has been sacked 19 times this season and was in a protective walking boot for part of this week.
Sources told ESPN that Levis’ foot injury had improved each day this week and that he wanted to play, but getting back to a point where he could play effectively in a game may prove difficult. He’s expected to dress out and go through pregame warmups.
I believed there was a true 50-50 chance that Levis would choose to play when it was time to make that game-time decision. After reading Low’s report, it feels like there’s a 2% chance we will see him. “It’s getting better everyday, but he still might not be able to go” is just a bit over the top. Folks really want you to know Levis is trying hard to play, which means he probably will not.

Notice the hit on Stephen Garcia? I have a feeling it’s there for a reason.
Kentucky vs. South Carolina: TV, Radio and Point Spread
After opening at Kentucky -10.5, the spread took an absolute nose-dive when Levis’ status became uncertain. You can now find Kentucky -6 with a total of 46. The under has hit in four of the Wildcats’ five games. South Carolina is 2-3 ATS in 2022. Since 2019, the Gamecocks are 2-7 ATS as a road dog with zero outright wins.

Folks, it’s going to be a beaut. Fair skies will be around all afternoon with 60-degree tailgate weather. The perfect fall day will conclude with a chili night. As Luckett calls it, bring your liquid long johns to the Kroge when it dips into the 50s for kickoff. Enjoy!
No Direct Shuttle from Keeneland to Kroger Field
In previous years, Kentucky football and horse racing fans could pay only $1 per trip to take a bus from Keeneland to Kroger Field. The convenient Lextran service has been eliminated, but you only need to jump through one hoop to catch a bus between the two sporting venues. Shuttles are running from the Downtown Transit Center to Keeneland and Kroger Field. Bring some extra singles and use that spot as your terminal. Find more details and a shuttle schedule here.
Today’s Kentucky Football Uniforms
The Wildcats are bringing out the chrome domes for the first time in 2022. Instead of anthracite, the chrome helmets will top blue jerseys and pants against the Gamecocks, the same uniforms UK wore in last year’s Citrus Bowl win over Iowa.
A Very Important Tweet
Fudge Rounds are a top three Little Debbie snack, just like Mark Stoops’ Kentucky football team in the SEC.
