Kentucky is finalist for 3-star TE Gavin Grover
The tight end position now has a lot of value in Kentucky’s offense as the program has made the full-on switch to a pro-style scheme. After signing two tight end prospects in the class of 2023, the Wildcats are still looking at adding to the position in the class of 2024.
Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy tight end Gavin Grover has emerged as a clear target for recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow since last summer. The Metro Columbus native has long had Kentucky at the top of his list. The three-star prospect made that official on Tuesday morning.
Grover announced his final three schools on social media with Cincinnati, Kentucky, and West Virginia all making the cut.
Where is home? All signs seem to point to Kentucky.
“I honestly felt confident there. It almost felt like home a little bit. I’m starting to get that homey feel about Kentucky,” Grover told KSR’s Nick Roush.

Grover is the No. 26 prospect in Ohio, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. The Kentucky target has been on three visits to Lexington since last summer and was just recently in town for a spring practice visit where he spoke with Marrow, quality control assistant C.J. Conrad, and super senior tight end Brenden Bates. There is a real connection building with Kentucky and Grover.
“I’m really starting to get a good feel for the place and all of the people there. I think that’s what keeps me coming back is the people there,” Grover said. “Coach Stoops and how he treats the guys, I think that’s amazing. Seeing practice, I just feel so comfortable around everybody there.”
Kentucky currently has two commitments in the class of 2024 with in-state offensive line prospects Hayes Johnson and Aba Selm officially in the fold. Will Gavin Grover be the next to join them?
