After an amazing start to SEC play, Georgia Amoore‘s National Player of the Year case continues to grow.

We already mentioned on Tuesday how she was named both the National and SEC Player of the Week for her performances in a pair of blowout wins for the Wildcats. Amoore went for 25.5 points and nine assists in 37 minutes per outing during victories over Mississippi State and Vanderbilt — two projected NCAA Tournament teams. But that wasn’t the only recognition she received on Tuesday…

Amoore was also tabbed to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List as one of the nation’s best overall players. Despite a slow shooting start to the 2024-25 season, the 5-foot-6 native of Australia has quickly caught herself up to speed. Amoore is averaging 17.9 points, a career-high (and nation-leading) 7.4 assists, and one steal in 35.3 minutes per outing while shooting 41.4 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from deep.

Amoore, a 2023-24 All-American, has already put herself in rare history at Kentucky. Her seven made three-pointers against Mississippi State make her just the second player in program history (the other being Rhyne Howard) to hit seven triples twice in one season. Amoore still has half a season left to put herself in first place on that list.

But wait, there’s more! On Wednesday, Rick Nixon of NCAA.com tabbed Amoore to his Week 10 women’s basketball starting five. She joined Ta’Niya Latson (Florida State), Tova Sabel (UC Davis), Teresa Seppala (Siena), and Kaylene Smikle (Maryland) as last week’s five best performers.

With Amoore leading the charge, Kentucky is off to a terrific start to the 2024-25 season. The Wildcats sit on a 13-1 record (2-0 SEC) with a No. 15 ranking in the latest AP Poll. Up next is a road matchup on Thursday against Florida.
