Georgia Amoore named Naismith Player of the Week and a Point Guard of the Year finalist
Georgia Amoore etched her name in UK Athletics history with her 43-point performance at 13th-ranked Oklahoma on Sunday, tying the school record for points in a single game. Amoore hit 15 of 23 shots, including seven 3-pointers, in Kentucky Women’s Basketball‘s 95-86 road win over the Sooners. The senior guard added eight assists to her high-scoring afternoon at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.
On Monday, Amoore was celebrated with the Naismith Trophy’s Player of the Week award for her game at Oklahoma and, the one before it, the win over No. 22 Alabama in Lexington. The Ballarat, Victoria, Australia native averaged 29.5 points, 4.5 3-pointers, and 8.5 assists in the two ranked wins last week, shooting 55.3% from the field and 50% from 3.
