Georgia will be without multiple defensive starters against Kentucky
Georgia has not given up a touchdown in two games this season. Alabama was the last team to score a touchdown against the Bulldogs and that occurred all the way back in the SEC Championship Game. Through 2024, that strong work has occurred without two of this defense’s top players.
Defensive tackle Warren Brinson and EDGE Mykel Williams each suffered ankle injuries during the first half against Clemson in Week 1. Both have been ruled out for Saturday’s contest against Kentucky.
Brinson is a super senior who started four games in 2023 for Georgia. The former top-300 recruit out of IMG Academy recorded 21 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks as a redshirt senior in 2023 and is one of UGA’s most experienced players on the line of scrimmage with 818 career defensive snaps played.
Williams was a five-star recruiting win for the Bulldogs out of Columbus (Ga.) Hardaway in the 2022 recruiting cycle. The defensive end/outside linebacker started two games as a true freshman and led the defense in sacks (4.5) as a sophomore. The Junior entered the season as one of the best players on UGA’s defense and was a big year away from becoming a first-round draft selection. That could still happen but Williams will miss another game on Saturday.

Georgia’s defense will not be at full strength against Kentucky, but that has not slowed this unit down yet in 2024.
