Lexington’s college football recruiting factory never stops. Today it produced an eye-popping scholarship offer. Frederick Douglass 2023 defensive tackle Jamarrion Harkless announced a new offer from the University of Georgia.

A 6-foot-4, 300 pound defensive tackle, 247 Sports ranks Harkless as a three-star prospect. Flying under most folks’ recruiting radar, that will no longer be the case after the defensive lineman picked up an offer from a school that just had one of the most dominant defensive lines in college football history.

Georgia is only the third Power Five school to offer Harkless a scholarship, joining West Virginia and Illinois, where he’s planned an official visit for June. WKU, EKU, Marshall and a host of schools from the MAC are also actively recruiting Harkless.

Frederick Douglass has been generous to the University of Kentucky. Dane Key, Dekel Crowdus and Jager Burton have all signed within the last two recruiting classes, and Harkless’ fellow senior-to-be, Ty Bryant, was the first commitment in UK’s 2023 recruiting class. Aside from Walker Parks, Vince Marrow has secured signatures from all of the Broncos’ high-profile prospects. This move by Georgia for Harkless could put that streak in jeopardy.
