Kentucky had a need to address at offensive tackle in the winter transfer portal. After vetting numerous targets, the Wildcats eventually landed Tennessee transfer Gerald Mincey. The redshirt senior took a visit to Lexington last weekend and immediately committed to the Wildcats.

It did not take long for the Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons product to become “one of us” in the Big Blue Nation. The class of 2020 recruit went to X on Thursday and let Tennessee fans know that he made a business decision when he decided to enter the transfer portal for the second time in his collegiate career.

It sounds like Mincey’s mentions and direct messages via social media have not been kind from Vol Nation in the last week after the two-time SEC transfer decided to spend the 2024 season with Kentucky. There will now be some added juice when the two border rivals meet in November.

However, the biggest news to come out of this post by Mincey is the fact that the offensive line transfer is dealing with a notable injury. The tackle played through a torn MCL last season and that might mean that Kentucky’s potential RT1 in 2024 could miss all of spring practice.

Kentucky is looking to make some more strides on the offensive line in 2024, and Gerald Mincey will play a big role in that. The newest addition is excited to play Tennessee, but the Wildcats must get the big tackle healthy first.
