Ghostbusters 3's Thursday News and Views
“Ghostbusters” is set to make a return and this time I think we can believe the rumors. “It’s officially on,” says director Paul Feig, 30 years after the franchise debuted. He and “Parks and Recreation” writer Katie Dippold are co-writing the script. That means no Dan Akroyd at the helm, despite his efforts to revive the classic for years now. (They’d be crazy to leave him completely out of the movie.)
The long-awaited sequel will feature a brand new cast and will be completely separated from the first two installments. It will be women chasing the ghosts around this time. Names like Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Emma Stone are being tossed around as potential comedians who could land starring roles.
Filming will begin in Spring 2015 and it better have Bill Murray or I’m not interested.
It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call.

Mitch McConnell came in hot on Tuesday’s KSR radio show.
Easy there, Senator. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?
The Minority Leader of the Senate made a surprise appearance on Kentucky Sports Radio radio Wednesday morning with very little notice. Like, 10 minutes notice. Of course, Matt and Ryan weren’t prepared for the unexpected special guest (not that Ryan would’ve been prepared with three years notice) but Matt handled it very well and now the interview is the talk of the political world.
I know how much you guys love talking politics here on the site — CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE COMMENTS SECTION! — so I won’t dig too deep into all that was said, but it was very clear Ol’ Mitch isn’t a fan of the show and he came on with a little hostility right out of the gate. As Matt put it, he was “needlessly angry.”
Listen below if you missed it:
Something tells me he regrets making that phone call.
Lloyd Tubman pleaded not guilty.
Tubman was in court Wednesday morning on charges of first-degree rape, to which he pleaded not guilty. He was released to his family on a $10,000 bond and is due back in court at the end of this month.
Also, the arrest warrant for Tubman was released and it provides new and sickening details of the alleged incident:
The woman said Tubman, 20, showed up at her dorm and then called, asking to speak with her in her room, according to the court document. After initially refusing, the woman said she went to the lobby to check him in as her guest.
As she typed a paper while siWe need to make sure that we’re seeing the play faster and triggering.tting on her roommate’s bed, the woman said Tubman interrupted her repeatedly before he disrobed and refused to leave, according to the court document.
Tubman restrained her while she fought, the warrant said.
Immediately after the alleged rape, the student, who was “in shock,” told Tubman he had to leave, according to the warrant. He followed her to the elevator. The student took Tubman to the building’s lobby. She told police she’d been admonished previously for not being present when a visitor checked out.
Police said in the warrant that a video of the lobby showed there was no physical contact or “intimate gestures” between the two. [Herald-Leader]
According to the Courier-Journal, Tubman’s mother, Warnetta Smith Cooper, posted on Facebook: “Please don’t pass judgment without the facts. My son (would) never hurt a female fly. Lloyd is not perfect but he’s a good young gentleman.”
Moving on…
D.J. Eliot blamed his linebackers for South Carolina’s 282 rushing yards.
UK’s worst performance against the run, Eliot called it, falls on the shoulders of the linebackers. Mark Stoops’ defensive coordinator said, “It was very disappointing. It was mainly linebacker play. I think linebacker play was poor in the run game. So, we need to make improvements this week in that area.”
He wants his linebackers to be more physically and fundamentally sound going forward. “We need to make sure that we’re seeing the play faster and triggering,” he told reporters.
Starting middle linebacker Josh Forrest also falls into the not-physical-enough group despite having a career-high 15 tackles against the Gamecocks. “He needs to knock them back, not them knock him back,” said Eliot.

UK landed a commitment from a local football star.
Henry Clay’s Davonte Robinson is the newest and fourth member of UK’s 2016 recruiting class after pledging his commitment to cornerbacks coach Derrick Ansley by phone on Wesnesday. Robinson is a speedster that will likely play corner when he arrives on campus in 2016. He won the state title in the 100-meter last year as a sophomore.
YAHTZEE!
Doral Moore committed to Wake Forest.
Once believed to be Kentucky-bound, seven-footer Doral Moore will instead take his talents to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to play for the Demon Deacons. A four-star prospect, Moore was never a high priority for the Cats inside but interest was high from his end. It’s likely Calipari told him to wait before committing, and Moore took that as an opportunity to consider other schools. He visited Wake Forest over the weekend before committing on Wednesday. Good seeing ya, bud.
Please stop taking pictures of Damien Harris without asking.
Man, can't go anywhere without people thinking they've gotta sneak pictures and stuff like that. Let me be 17.

In related news, Harris is doubtful for Friday night’s game on ESPNU. The Worldwide Leader will air the game anyway, with or without him.
Steve Spurrier is a broken man.
After losing to Kentucky, a team he had only lost to once in 22 tries before Saturday, he told his Wednesday night call-in show listeners that it’s a struggle. “Hell, I was a pretty good coach a couple years ago,” said Spurrier. “I’m not a very good coach now.”
The Ol’ Ball Coach admitted the talent is down from what he’s had at South Carolina in years past. “I’m embarrassed at times the way we play,” he said of his 2014 Gamecocks.
“We’re strugglers, but we do have three wins. We need to get six or seven wins and that would be a good season for this team.”
Don’t ‘cha just hate that for him?
Hey Bill Self, don’t forget to set your DVR!

@michaelwwitt
Basketball is almost here, plus we’re in the middle of an exciting football season. I’ll have plenty of Louisiana-Monroe chatter on the website on Thursday as we look ahead to UK’s sixth game and possible fifth win of the season.
Go Cats.
