Give Tashawn Manning an Academy Award
And the Oscar goes to…
Kentucky fans witnessed remarkable performances in the 27-17 victory over No. 16 Mississippi State. Chris Rodriguez had almost 200 yards rushing. Will Levis was a perfect 9-for-9 on third down. Brad White’s defense held the Mississippi State offense to 29 points below its season average. Those numbers cannot hold a candle to the fourth quarter performance by Tashawn Manning.
Late in the game things got chippy between the UK offense and the Mississippi State defense. Following one hard fought run, words turned into actions. The Kentucky offensive guard wanted to make sure the Bulldogs paid for their mistake. Tashawn Manning took a blow, paused for a few seconds, then hit the deck. It was an acting performance for the ages. It looks like he learned a thing or two while interning for OVW this summer.
Let’s take a look from another angle.
The extra effort by Tashawn Manning worked. The Bulldogs were flagged, keeping the late Kentucky drive alive. It’s the best acting performance by a Wildcat since Brandin Echols was brought back to life in the 2020 Gator Bowl.
