Team Germany, Canada, Africa rosters released for GLOBL Jam
Kentucky’s run in the GLOBL Jam starts Wednesday. Now, we finally know who the Cats will face. The final rosters for Team Germany, Team Canada, and Team Africa were just released. As you might expect, most of the players compete internationally, but there are a few familiar names.
Team Germany guard Simonas (“Simas”) Lukošius transferred from Butler to Cincinnati this offseason. He averaged 11.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists last season as a sophomore at Butler, making a team-high 59 three-pointers at a 37.8% clip.
Team Africa includes a current Louisville Cardinal. Rising sophomore big man Emmanuel Okorafor joined the Cards during ACC play, appearing in only five games and averaging 4.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks. He previously played at NBA Academy Africa and his Twitter handle is @Nigerianfreak34. Highlights suggest he likes to dunk the ball.
Other NCAA players on Team Africa’s roster: 6’8″ forward Babacar Faye, who transferred to Western Kentucky from College of Charleston (2022-23 stats: 4.7 PPG, 4.6 RPG); Nelly Junior Joseph, a 6′ 10″, 242 lbs. forward who transferred to New Mexico from Iona (2022-23 stats: 14.9 PPG, 9.3 RPG); and Aly Khalifa, a 6’11” 286 center who will play for Mark Pope at BYU this year after two seasons at Charlotte (2022-23 stats: 11.7 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 2.7 APG). Jean Jacques Boissy is also on Team Africa and was an All-Basketball Africa League First Team selection this past season for AS Douanes in Senegal.
Team Canada’s roster includes a few NCAA players, Northeastern guard Jahmyl Telfort (2022-23 stats: 16.4 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 2.2 APG) and Maine guard Kellen Tynes (2022-23 stats: 14.3 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 3.8 APG). 6’9″ forward Thomas Kennedy averaged 20.3 points and 13.8 rebounds for the University of Windsor in Ontario last season.
Check out the complete rosters below. I threw in Kentucky’s for good measure. We’re still waiting on jersey numbers for Team Canada and Africa, which we hope to have closer to tip-off.
