Grant Bingham is ready to earn stripes as member of Big Blue Wall
No one else in college football as a brand like the Kentucky offensive line. True freshman Grant Bingham knows that he has big shoes to fill to become a member of the Big Blue Wall.
The Paintsville (Ky.) Johnson Central product was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022 that had major interest from Michigan and Notre Dame. However, the allure to play for the home state school kept the local product home. However, the transition will not be easy.
“High school football is just so much different than this. It’s just faster, bigger. You just gotta keep working, keep doing your thing, and one day you’ll finally get used to it,” Bingham told the media on Tuesday. “Hopefully, one day I’ll earn a spot on the Big Blue Wall.”
Checking in at 6-foot-5 and 321 pounds, Bingham certainly looks the part. The early enrollee was a 4.0 student in the classroom and a star tennis player, but the real impact came in between the white lines. Bingham was a mauler at the point of attack who possesses some good foot agility thanks to that tennis background. That should add up to make the young lineman a scheme fit in the wide zone offense that new offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello and offensive line coach Zach Yenser are installing.

However, the young player needs some time to adjust.
Bingham admits that he is still getting used to the speed of the game and is nowhere near a finished product as a football player. The young player was challenged all spring and pushed by teammates on both sides of the line of scrimmage on a daily basis.
“It’s a good thing, honestly. I know I’m not ready,” Bingham said about the adjustment to SEC football. “Therefore, just me getting better — bettering myself — I know the guys in front of me are doing a great job. Just watching them play is going to help me tremendously.
For now, Grant Bingham is just working on getting better one day and eventually he’ll be a major piece of the Big Blue Wall.
“Keep going, keep grinding, and you’ll get it one day,” said Bingham.
