Great Osobor no longer considering Kentucky following visit

Utah State star transfer Great Osobor is not only leaving Lexington without a commitment, but he’s also no longer considering Kentucky at all.

Following the Wildcats’ addition of Oklahoma State transfer Brandon Garrison, the two sides have decided to part ways, Osobor exploring his options elsewhere. He will begin his visit to Louisville today, followed by trips to Texas Tech and Washington before making a final decision.

KSR’s Matt Jones broke the news on KSBoard late Tuesday evening, followed by The Field Of 68’s Jeff Goodman confirming on Twitter this morning.

Garrison’s addition gave Kentucky three key frontcourt pieces, joining Drexel’s Amari Williams and Wake Forest’s Andrew Carr. Elsewhere, Mark Pope is making a push for other star talent in the portal, particularly in the backcourt — BYU star transfer Jaxson Robinson the ultimate prize.

With Osobor waiting until he wraps up his official visits to make a decision and Garrison available now with more business to take care of on Kentucky’s side, it all adds up, certainly considering Pope is a huge fan of his newest signee as is.

“Brandon’s a McDonald’s All-American and a FIBA U18 Americas gold medalist with Team USA who crushed me at BYU last year and crushed Coach [Alvin] Brooks at Baylor last year,” Pope said of Garrison. “We’re unbelievably glad he’s on our team now. He’s an incredible person with a brilliant, joyful smile that BBN will fall in love with. We’re really excited about our front line and Brandon will be a key piece to it.”

Who’s next? Dayton sharpshooter Koby Brea is a safe bet.
