In fact, he'll be the first to tell you the exact opposite. During the Renegades' game on Sunday afternoon, Mumme was knocked down by his own player on the sideline, a play that resulted in a broken leg for the XFL offensive coordinator. Did he get carted off the field? Need an air cast to stabilize his leg? Crutches, at the very least? None of the above. In fact, after the fall, Mumme stood right back up and decided to spend the next 2.5 quarters of the game calling plays, right through the final buzzer. https://twitter.com/JoeJHoyt/status/1234632567258779649?s=20 During the official XFL broadcast, commentator Kevin Burkhardt and Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen both went out of their way to give credit where credit was due. “He was trying to get out the way, turned his back, just had nowhere to go," Olsen said. "Hope he's alright." “Goodness, Hal has a bad back too," Burkhardt added. "He's tough.” “He’s a ball coach,” Olsen said. “That's a football guy through and through right there, man.” In response to the team confirming the news that Mumme had, in fact, broken his leg, the former Kentucky head coach had quite the response. "I'm not soft," Mumme wrote on his Twitter page. https://twitter.com/HalMumme/status/1234655206761287681?s=20 Football guy? Football guy.
