HALF: Kentucky trails Texas A&M 46-45 in College Station
Inhale. Exhale. That was a lot. The game most expected to be a halfcourt slugfest has quickly become a track meet, a high-scoring affair between the Cats and the Aggies.
Aaron Bradshaw went out with two quick fouls in the opening segment, leading to extended run for Ugonna Onyenso and Jordan Burks with mixed results. Elsewhere, Antonio Reeves got things rolling for the Cats from deep, hitting four 3-pointers en route to 16 first-half points to go with three rebounds. DJ Wagner has also been a scoring force early, adding nine points on 4-7 shooting with two dimes. Tre Mitchell has added seven points, five rebounds and three assists while Rob Dillingham and Justin Edwards have added four and three, respectively. The Cats are shooting 51.5% from the field and 47.1% from deep at the break.
On the other end, Texas A&M star Wade Taylor IV leads the way with 12 points on three made threes, followed by Tyrece Radford and Jace Carter with nine apiece. As a team, the Aggies are shooting 47.2% overall and 33.3% from three. They’re also winning the rebounding battle 21-7 with nine coming on the offensive end leading to seven second-chance points.
That’s how you get a 46-45 score in favor of the home team.
