HALFTIME: DJ Wagner injured, Kentucky leads 42-37
Well, a lot happened there. Where do we begin? Let’s start with the obvious: DJ Wagner is hurt. The standout freshman went down with a leg injury on a drive to the basket with 4:22 to go.
No update on his status. He would finish the half with five points on 1-3 shooting and 3-4 at the line with one assist and one block in 10 minutes.
As for the good news, the Wildcats lead No. 8 Miami (FL) 42-37 at the break, a game that has featured three lead changes and momentum swings. It started with a 17-3 run to put Kentucky up 10 early, followed by an 18-2 run for the Hurricanes to go up six. The Cats would then respond with a 19-8 run to close out the half with a five-point lead.

Seven different players scored for Kentucky, led by a trio of eight-point finishes from Justin Edwards, Antonio Reeves and Reed Sheppard. Adou Thiero added six, followed by Tre Mitchell and Wagner with five. As a team, the Cats are shooting 53.1% overall, but just 20% from three — 2-10 from deep.
The Hurricanes are currently converting on 45.2% of their buckets and 36.4% of threes, led by 13 points from Wooga Poplar and nine from Norchad Nomier.
