HALFTIME: Florida leads Kentucky 45-37 in Gainesville
Inhale, exhale. Kentucky‘s SEC opener in Gainesville is off to an up-and-down start, one that saw the Wildcats let go of the rope a bit to close out the first half. Tied with 7:39 to go, the Gators quickly pushed the lead to as many as 11 before closing out with a 45-37 lead at the break.
Florida has taken 20 3-pointers with eight makes from deep spread across four different players. The Gators are also outrebounding the Wildcats 21-20 with five coming on offense, turning into eight second-chance points. They’re shooting 44.7% from the field and 40.0% from three while (thankfully) making just three of eight attempts at the line.
As for Kentucky, seven different players have converted on buckets, led by Tre Mitchell with 12 points on 5-7 shooting to go with eight rebounds. Antonio Reeves is right behind with nine points on 4-7 shooting, followed by Reed Sheppard with five points and four rebounds, Justin Edwards with four points and Ugonna Onyenso with three points and three rebounds.
